Ex gratia announced

CHENNAI: The Chief Minister has announced an ex gratia of Rs.2 lakh to the family of Murugan of Vennpushpam village of Mahabalipuram, who died while trying to save the life of a foreign tourist on February 25.

An official release said the 29-year-old died on the spot, while trying to save the tourist from being attacked by a mentally deranged person. The Chief Minister, considering the financial status of Murugan’s family, ordered release of the ex gratia from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
