EMRI to get 500 more ambulances

HYDERABAD: Health & Family Welfare Minister S. Chandrasekhar has said the government will provide 500 more ambulances to EMRI to enable it to attend the road accident and other emergency cases more effectively.
With this, the fleet strength of the EMRI which functions under Rajiv Aarogyasri, will reach 1,000.
Replying to the points raised during a debate on Rajiv Aarogyasri in the Assembly on Wednesday, the Minister said under this health insurance scheme, another facet of Rajiv Aarogyasri, 17,758 critical surgeries had been performed during the 11 months of its implementation so far, benefiting as many people from poorer sections. In all, 112 hospitals in the State had been brought under the Rajiv Arogysari network.
The Minister said diseases relating to lung, pancreas, liver, malformation of limbs among the children had also been brought under the purview of Rajiv Aarogyasri. Chief Ministers of other States evinced keen interest in the scheme and sent teams to Andhra Pradesh to study it for replication. Meanwhile, the Telugu Desam demanded that the government reveal the procedure adopted in shortlisting Star Health and Allied Insurance Company Limited for implementing Rajiv Aarogyasri scheme and the names of “the real players” behind it.
