Aarti Dhar

NEW DELHI: An 18-foot statue of freedom-fighter Bhagat Singh will be installed in the Parliament House complex.

Announcing this in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Speaker Somnath Chatterjee said the Joint Committee on Portraits and Statues had cleared the installation of the statue. It would be put up in courtyard no. 5 near that of Subhash Chandra Bose.

To be sculpted by Ram Sutar, the statue would be unveiled in August and all expenses borne by the Lok Sabha Secretariat. This is the third statue donated by the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
