Thrust in rural lending


Rural lending is broadly categorized as

Financing to Farm sector

Financing to Non farm sector.

Hence TMB has geared up all the 51 Rural branches out of the total 199 branches through periodical loan Melas exclusively for agricultural advances and SHGs’ lending.

For improving the income of the farmers, TMB has arranged tie up arrangements with Milk procuring companies for extending advances to farmers for purchasing Milch animals and 561 No.of farmers have been benefitted through our Mayiladumparai branch and also planned to extend milch animal finance to nearly 5000 farmers through our Rural branches.

TMB is now giving more thrust to Hi-tech Agriculture. We have formulated a novel loan product viz. TMB - Banana Tissue culture scheme with Drip Irrigation facilities. This scheme is now operated in Theni District. The scheme is very Farmer friendly with quick appraisal. We have extended loan of Rs.67.00 lac to 28 farmers under this scheme. TMB has felt that more importance will be given for developing value added products, then only the demand for Horticultural crops will go up and TMB has financed Rs.50.00 lac to one newly promoted Banana Ripening Unit under Cold Storage by new modern Technology.

Our Hosur Branch has financed to one Banana Tissue culture seedlings production unit who are supplying Banana Tissue culture seedlings to farmers at Theni Districts.

Recently our Bank has been permitted to extend advances under Margin Money Scheme in Khadi and Village Industries sector. Our branches have extended Rs.51.66 lac to 14 units.

During this financial year, our Bank branches have financed to the tune of Rs.20.00 Crores to 1305 SHGs. We have actively participated for achieving the Government sponsored programmes. Now we have planned to introduce IT enabled Financial Inclusion in all our Rural branches.

TMB has under taken the following measures for improving Rural lending.

Providing more timely Farm credit to various categories of farmers.

Extending Bank credit to develop various new and existing Industries in Rural area.

Financing viable projects in rural area for generating Rural employment opportunity.

Unattended rural people should be brought into our bank’s fold by providing various Banking services to them.

Giving more thrust for extending Micro credit to Women Self Help Groups.
