BERHAMPUR: Devotees celebrated Mahasivaratri at different temples in the city and its outskirts on Thursday. There was heavy rush at Siva shrines like Dhavaleswar near Gopalpur, Ghatakeswar inside the Kerandimala jungles and Trayambakeswar at a perennial stream near Lochapada. The rush increased during evening as people gathered at the Siva temples to spend the whole night in meditation. In all Siva temples of the city, the festival was celebrated with offerings of diyas. Thousands of burning diyas were arranged in decorative patterns in front of the temples.
