Gowrishankara swamiji released

BANGALORE: The former junior seer of the Siddaganga Math, Tumkur, Gowrishankara, was released from the Bangalore Central Prison on Thursday.
The swamiji, who was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by the Karnataka High Court on the charge of committing sodomy, was lodged in the prison at Parappana Agrahara for the past three years.
The Supreme Court acquitted the swamiji on Wednesday and the order reached the prison authorities on Thursday.
Subsequently, he was released, sources told The Hindu.
Rousing reception
Hundreds of his devotees from Tumkur district, who had gathered at the prison since morning, gave him a rousing reception as he emerged out of it around 5.30 p.m.
