For record: The former Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy (second from left) and actor Puneeth Rajkumar (left) releasing the ‘Meghave Meghave’ audio CDs on air, in Bangalore on Thursday. BANGALORE: Apparently the sky is the limit when it comes to publicity stunts. In an attempt to draw the attention of Indian cinema towards the 75-year-old Kannada cinema and to gain entry into the Limca Book of Records, young filmmaker V.V. Nagendra Prasad staged a promotional fete by launching the website of his new film “Meghave Meghave” and released its audio CD and cassette on the board of a chartered aircraft. Even as the aircraft was flying over Bangalore city at an altitude of 35,000 ft on Thursday, Dr. Prasad, who has also written the story and penned the lyrics, said it was his long-cherished dream to stage something unique amid clouds Such a launch, he said, was the first of its kind in Indian cinema. If marriage could be performed amidst clouds, why could a film’s music not be released? The setting, he said, was also apt was as “Meghave Meghave” also spoke of clouds with connotations. And, appropriately enough, its shooting was launched in that land of cloud-kissed mountains, Nepal. The film will soon be ready for release shortly, he added. The absence of the former Chief Minister and producer-distributor H.D. Kumaraswamy, who was scheduled to participate in the event, was disappointing to the film crew. But the presence of veteran actor-director K.S.L. Swamy and his actor wife B.V. Radha, Puneet Rajkumar, Aniruddh, Shobharaj and Gracy Singh lent some glamour to the occasion. Others present were Director of Tourism C. Somashekhar and the former Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy. The flight was scheduled to take off at 2.30 p.m. and the media had turned up in full strength. But it took off only at 5 p.m. and was in the air for about 50 minutes reportedly due to security reasons. Besides the film crew, the flight had 140 guests, including 61 mediapersons, on board.
