Training centre for Home Guards to come up in Udhagamandalam

TIRUNELVELI: A training centre for home guards was being established at Udhagamandalam on an outlay of Rs.40 lakh, T. Radhakrishnan, IG, Director of Civil Defence and Deputy Commandant General of Home Guards, has said.

Speaking to reporters at Palayamkottai on Thursday, Mr. Radhakrishnan said that the Home Guards would be trained in methodically designed programmes at this centre, which would become functional in 2009. The Commissioner of Police, Tirunelveli, M.N. Manjunatha, the DCPs R. Dhinakaran (Law and Order) and T. Jayachandran (Crime and Traffic) accompanied the IG, who released a newsletter of the Home Guards.
