This Day That Age
The United Nations announced on March 3 that the Ford Foundation had offered up to 300,000 dollars to help Governments in the Far East and Asian countries in their forthcoming census of population, housing and agriculture. The project is part of U.N.’s 1960 world census programme. A U.N. Progress report indicates that at least 147 countries and territories are already planning census in 1960. The final number is expected to be even larger. The statement said a training centre for census officials from Asia and the Far East would be arranged in Tokyo towards the end of 1958.
