Corrections and clarifications

The last paragraph in a report “MSE members can trade on NSE platform” (“Business” page, March 6, 2008) was “The fee for filing offer documents for buyback of securities will be reduced from 0.05 per cent to 0.125 per cent, subject to a maximum of Rs. 3 crore.” The fee for filing offer documents for buyback of securities will be reduced from 0.50 per cent (and not 0.05 per cent) to 0.125 per cent.

In a report “Delhi ranks high among world’s dirtiest cities” (North India, March 4, 2008, page 1), the third paragraph was: “The prime reason why Delhi made the unenviable list is the pollution in the Yamuna that, the [American Forbes] magazine reports, is devoid of marine life.” Since the Yamuna is a river, it should have been “aquatic life”.

Mr. V.S. Chandrasekar, Executive Editor, PTI, clarifies: “This has reference to the mention about a PTI report on ‘CBSE class X, XII exams begin’, which a reader of The Hindu has said ‘had created panic in his family’. The PTI report was correct as class X examinations had also begun that day (March 1), a fact that was based on a press release issued by CBSE, Delhi. The first day’s paper related to Information Technology in the class X.”

It is the policy of The Hindu to correct significant errors as soon as possible. Please specify the edition (place of publication), date and page.
