Forum collects Rs.50 lakh for the project 35 families to be provided new houses KASARAGOD: Minister for Water Resources N.K. Premachandran will inaugurate the rehabilitation project of Solidarity Youth Movement for the victims of aerial spraying of Endosulphan in the district at a function at new bus stand premises here on Saturday, State president of the organisation on P. Mujib Rahman and State secretary M. Saajid have said. At a press conference here Mr. Rahman said T. Aarif Ali, amir of Jama Athe Islami Hind, Kerala unit would announce the details of the project. All MLAs from the district are expected to speak at the function. Mr. Rahman said Solidarity had collected an amount of Rs.50 lakh from the public for the rehabilitation of the affected. The estimated cost of the first phase of the project is Rs.50 lakh, he said. The first phase would concentrate on treatment of the affected, housing schemes for them, employment and education. The beneficiaries were selected from Enmakaje, Kumbadaje, Muliyar, Kayyoor-Cheemeni and Pulloor-Peria panchayats in the district, which had been seriously affected by endosulphan spraying, said Mr. Rahman. As a part of the first phase, 35 families would be provided new houses and 126 persons would be provided financial assistance for treatment. Employment assistance would be given to seven families as a part of the project and education aid would be granted to 32 children. Solidarity district president Shefeekh Nazarulla also participated.
