Students come together for a kutcheri in the park



Students at the ‘Sundaram Finance Kutcheri in the park’ concert in Chennai.

As many as 15 students from Vidya Mandir School, Mylapore, recently presented a Carnatic vocal music performance as part of the monthly ‘Sundaram Finance Kutcheri in the park’ mike-less concert series organised at Nageswara Rao Park.

The 15-member vocalists’ team was accompanied by Shyam on the violin, Shrikrishna and R. Varun on the Mridangam and S. Krishna on the Ghatam.

Sundaram Finance Managing Director T.T. Srinivasaraghavan said the performance by Vidya Mandir students received an overwhelming response from the audience.

He said it is was particularly pleasing that the students, learning from different music teachers, were brought together and trained by their math teacher Harikripa Kannan.

Ms. Kannan said the concept was innovative and interesting.

Mr. Srinivasaraghavan gave away certificates to the participant, a press release said.
