Five new police stations announced

Thiruvananthapuram: The government will start five new police stations in the next financial year, Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac has said in his budget speech.
They are at Chombaal, Iravipuram, Pariyaram Medical College, Nedumbasserry and Karipur.
A Vigilance Court will be set up in Kottayam district. Rs.5.40 crore has been allotted for jail modernisation. The Fire Service Academy at Viyoor will be developed further.
New Fire and Rescue Department stations will be started at Paravur, Wadakkancherry, Mannarcaud, Nadapuram, Peravoor, Peringom and Poovar. Rs.9.5 crore has been allocated for the construction of court buildings and judicial quarters.
