BANGALORE: For the first time in Bangalore, an Australian film festival will be organised by the Australian High Commission and Suchitra Film Society. “Australian Visions: A festival of acclaimed Australian films” will be held from March 14 to March 17.

Addressing presspersons, filmmaker Girish Kasaravalli said that while Bangaloreans have been treated to European and Russian films at film festivals, Australian films, which have been attracting viewers globally, have not yet been screened here.

Many of the 10 films to be screened at the festival have made a mark internationally and have won awards. The four-day film festival will be inaugurated by Secretary of Department of Kannada and Culture I.M. Vittal Murthy. Australian TV science communicator Karl Kruszelnicki will deliver a talk on the occasion.

The schedule of films to be screened at Vision Cinemas is as follows: March 14: Jindabyne, Directed by Ray Lawrence (6 p.m.); March 15: The Tracker, Directed by Rolf De Heer (11 a.m.); Harvie Krumpet, directed by Adam Elliot (3 p.m.); Ned Kelly, directed by Gregor Jordan (4 p.m.); Jindabyne (6.30 p.m.); March 16: The Caterpillar Wish, directed by Sandra Sciberras (11 a.m.); Swimming Upstream, directed by Russel Mulcahey (2 p.m.); The Tracker (4 p.m.); Dirty Deeds, directed by David Caesar (6.30 p.m.); March 17: Lantana, directed by Ray Lawrance (1 p.m.); Three Dollars, directed by Robert Connelly (4 p.m.); Australian Rules, directed by Paul Goldman (6.30 p.m.).
