Kunhu, district panchayat vice-president; inspecting the land proposed for the Aligarh Muslim University centre near Malappuram on Friday MALAPPURAM: A team of people’s representatives visited the land identified for an Industrial Growth Centre at Hajiyarpalli near here on Friday, as part of finding a suitable plot for the proposed centre by Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). The team comprising T.K. Hamza, MP; M. Ummer, MLA; and P.K. Kunhu, district panchayat vice-president, found the 121.4 hectare land ideal for the proposed university centre. The Centre had specified that 81hectare land should be made available for setting up of a centre by AMU. Malappuram district was reportedly preferred for the university centre sanctioned for Malabar. The team members said they would recommend the location at Haijyarpalli for the proposed centre. The State government is reported to have shown readiness to offer the land for the centre.
