Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala has asked the State government to deploy Central forces in Kannur district to contain the violence there. In a statement here on Friday, he said the State government had failed to contain violence the district. The police were completely ineffective. The Chief Minister’s trip to New Delhi at this stage was serious dereliction of duty. He wanted the Chief Minister to take the initiative for convening an all-party meeting for restoring peace there. He felt that the fact that the violence was taking place in Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan’s home turf had to be viewed seriously.
