New Delhi
NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Friday expressed deep concern over alleged misuse of invalid bus permits by Blueline bus operators here to run new buses. A Division Bench of the Court comprising Justice Mukul Mudgal and Justice Reva Khetrapal observed that it was a serious matter when the amicus curiae in the suo motu petition over rise in road accidents involving Blueline buses in the city informed it about alleged re-use of the permits for running new buses. Allegation deniedHowever, Delhi Standing Counsel Mukta Gupta denied the allegation submitting that a bus owner could not use an invalid permit for plying a new bus as the permit was issued for a particular bus and it becomes useless once it was cancelled. But the amicus curiae convinced the Bench by submitting material in support of his allegation. The Court later said it would examine the allegation when the petition comes up for hearing next. Suo motu noteTaking suo motu note of the increase in cases of accidents involving Blueline buses last year, the Court has been hearing the matter for the past five months. It had taken note of it following the death of seven persons in an accident involving a Blueline bus at Badarpur in South Delhi on October 7.
