Kodiyeri cuts short visit

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has decided to cut short his visit to the Capital to return to Kerala on Saturday to hold talks with the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in a bid to end the latest round of ‘revenge killings’ between the two parties in Kannur district.

Talking to newspersons here on Friday, Mr. Balakrishnan said the District Collector of Kannur was already negotiating with the local leadership of both parties for early restoration of peace in the area. As to whether an all-party meeting would be convened to resolve this round of political violence, he said it could be considered.
