Search panel meeting today

Bangalore: Academic appointments are getting murkier and have become hotbeds of favouritism, much like the appointment of corporation heads by the party in power, said Mallanagouda Nadagoud, secretary-general of Janata Dal (United), Karnataka. Dr. Nadagoud said the search committee for the appointment of Vice-Chancellor of University of Mysore was formed in October 2007. The committee has submitted three names, which were rejected by the Governor. Dr. Nadagoud expressed hope that the selection committee, at its meeting on Saturday, would come up with three more names. — Staff Correspondent
