Former Minister joins investigations

Patiala: Former Punjab Minister Jagjit Singh on Friday joined investigations into the alleged charges of disproportionate assets and corruption case against Maharashtra-cadre IPS officer and state’s former DGP S. S. Virk.

However, he could not meet the district police chief as he was suffering from cervical pain.

Patiala SSP S.K. Asthana, who leads the investigation panel, has started the investigations on the directions of Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Later, his counsel met the SSP and requested one more day as Mr. Singh was not feeling well. Mr. Asthana said that Mr. Singh came and spent 10 minutes in waiting room and suddenly he got up and walked out from his office.

He said that he had received his request regarding the exemption for one day.

Mr. Singh said that he had been suffering from cervical pain and one more day should be given to him, Mr. Asthana added. PTI
