Staff Reporter
KARUR: Temporary shelters should be provided at the work sites where beneficiaries under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) are employed, Collector has directed the officials concerned and the respective panchayat union leaders. Provision of temporary shelters or even crèches wherever possible is mandated under the scheme and implementing panchayats should follow the norms, he has told the officials.
Similarly disbursal of wages on Tuesdays should be done under the direct supervision of specially formed committees having SHG members and elders to prevent any malpractice, he said.
With regard to work timings, he said that they should maintain the total duration even as they took into account the commencement of work to prevent any health hazard to workers due to constant exposure to the Sun.
