Woman allegedly assaulted

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A 32-year-old woman was allegedly criminally assaulted by her husband’s former employer in her house at Mukherjee Nagar here on Thursday evening.

According to the police, financier Devender, his brother Surender and their friend Bhima reached the victim’s house in Sant Nirankari Colony around 11-30 p.m. when all other members of the family, except the victim and her sister-in-law, had gone out to meet their relatives in Rajouri Garden.

“Since the accused was known to the victim and her family, the trio faced no problems in gaining entry into the house. They struck a conversation with the victim and sent her sister-in-law to the kitchen to arrange for some tea. When the woman was preparing tea, Surender confined her to the kitchen at gun-point, while Devender pushed the victim to the bedroom. Devender then criminally assaulted the woman, while Bhima held her,” said a senior police officer.

Soon after the accused fled, the two women called a neighbour and narrated the whole incident to him.

The neighbour reported the matter to the police and a case of criminal assault was registered at the Mukherjee Nagar police station.

The medical examination report of the victim is awaited, the police said.

The accused are absconding.

The victim’s husband had earlier worked with Devender and was recently sacked following some dispute over property, the police said.
