Delhi Speaker criticised

NEW DELHI: Former Delhi Assembly Speaker Charti Lal Goel said on Friday that the present incumbent, Chaudhary Prem Singh, had undermined the high office and degraded the institution of “Speaker” by attending an executive committee meeting of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee on Thursday.

“For remaining neutral in the House, the moment anybody is installed on the exalted post of Speaker, he or she has to resign from the primary membership of the political party from which he or she was elected,” Mr. Goel said.
