Anganwadi workers protest

Bangalore: More than 500 anganwadi workers from across the State gathered in the city to register their protest against the Centre’s apathy to their demands here on Friday.

Addressing the gathering, H.V. Anantha Subba Rao, general secretary, AITUC, said that the Centre has increased the wages of anganwadi workers by Rs. 500 and that of the helpers by Rs. 250.

“The Government should at least put in place minimum wages and regularise the services of the workers,” he said.
