Women told to assist police in curbing violence

Staff Reporter

SANGAREDDY: Medak Superintendent of Police R.B. Nayak called upon women to assist police to curb violence against them.

He was addressing the Women’Day celebrations organised by the DRDA, ICDS and the district administration at the Velugu office here on Saturday. He pointed out that the number of suicides by women in the district has increased in recent years indicating that many women were not able to cope with the family or societal violence against them. He urged them to unite and fight so that the police could help them. He assured protection to women if women organisations assisted the affected women.

He said that the Government has initiated many steps like registering land in the name of the woman in the household and Pavala Vaddi to provide them financial independence.
