Water treatment plant to come up near Doddabathi

Citizens will soon be able to get information online

DAVANGERE: Property ownership records and revenue records will soon be computerised and citizens will be able to get information online, Commissioner of the Davangere City Corporation Pranalinga Shivasali has said.

Participating in a function to felicitate the newly elected Mayor and Deputy Mayor here on Saturday, Mr. Shivasali said property tax records would be computerised by May, and people could access information on property records and property tax paid as well as the amount due online.

He also said copies of the records had been given to people for verification of data.

Similarly, birth and death records had also been computerised. From April, birth and death certificates would be issued to applicants within an hour of submitting applications, he said.

The “Mane bagilige palike” programme would restart from this year once election work was over, he said and added that a fresh drive would be undertaken to regularise unauthorised houses in the city. According to an estimate, there are over 10,000 unauthorised such houses, he said.Mr. Shivasali said a plant would be set up near Doddabathi village to purify sewage.

A hundred-acre plot of land had been acquired between Davangere and Harihar for treatment of hospital waste. General secretary of the Karnataka State Corporation Employees Association S.H. Gurumurthy said civic employees were not being given salaries and other emoluments on time and wanted all corporations in the State to earmark funds to pay the same.
