Preparations on for Rahul Gandhi’s visit CHIKMAGALUR: The district unit of the Youth Congress has warned that it will start an agitation against commercial banks if they initiated loan recovery process against farmers before the Union Government issued further orders on the loan waiver scheme. Speaking to presspersons here on Friday, Sachin Meega, president of the district unit of Youth Congress, reiterated that banks should postpone recovery of farm loans until further orders. He said programmes would be organised at the block level to educate people on the salient features of the loan waiver scheme announced in the Union Budget. A technical committee would be formed to liaison with bank officials on the proper implementation of the scheme, he added. Stating that preparations were being made for the visit of party general secretary Rahul Gandhi to the district at the end of this month, he said an appeal would be made to give more ticket to the youth in the general elections. He said Mr. Gandhi would be urged to bring pressure on the Union Government to announce special development packages for the Scheduled Tribes’ colony in Birur and Mundugodu village in Koppa taluk, whose residents have been affected by the Handigodu syndrome.
