Three injured in explosion from gas leak

BANGALORE: Three persons were injured and five houses and two vehicles damaged in an explosion triggered by gas leak from a LPG cylinder in a first floor house in Madivala police station limits on Friday.

The police said the explosion took place around 7 a.m. at anganwadi worker Sathyabhama’s house on Kodichikkanahalli Road in Hongasandra when she switched on an electric light. Sathyabhama, a spinster, suffered severe burns and she has been admitted in Victoria Hospital. Following the explosion, five houses on the ground floor of the building were damaged. A boy from the ground floor house, Jeevan, was injured when a brick fell on his head. He is out of danger. Another woman, who suffered minor injuries, was treated at a nearby hospital, the police said. An autorickshaw and a two-wheeler were also damaged. The Madivala police have registered a case.

Thieves made away with Rs. 1.8 lakh and gold ornaments worth Rs. 1.50 lakh from a businessman’s house in Nandini Layout police station limits early on Friday. The police said the theft took place between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. at Gurunath’s house on 9th Main, Shankarnagar. The thieves had put their hands through an open window and stolen the bootyfrom an almirah that was near the window, the police said. A case has been registered.

Arrested

The Kumaraswamy Layout police have arrested two youths who had allegedly bludgeoned Divyaraju and dumped his body in a BWSSB manhole on 69th Main Road, Kumaraswamy Layout.
