Women’s Day celebrated

Kozhikode: International Women’s Day observance was marked by seminars and other programmes in the city on Saturday. Mayor M. Bhaskaran inaugurated the celebrations organised by the Social Welfare Department and the Health and Family Welfare Department here on Saturday. Mr. Bhaskaran said that the main reason for the backwardness of women was lack of education. P.M.A. Salam, MLA, presided.

Malabar Theeradesa Vanita Federation celebrated its 10th anniversary too on the day.

M. Radhakrishnan, Education Standing Committee chairman, district panchayat, inaugurated the women’s convention organised jointly by district committees of Federation of State Employees and Teachers Organisation (FSETO) and Working Woman Coordination (WWC).
