NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit inaugurated four porta cabins for use by community centres in the DIZ area of Gole Market here on Saturday. These cabins are in addition to the 16 constructed in the DIZ area under the MLA Local Area Fund of the Chief Minister’s constituency. Ms. Dikshit expressed hope that the use of porta cabins would help residents’ welfare associations in their functioning and they in turn would be able to render cooperation. She said these cabins had been constructed to provide a common place for RWAs to discuss issues pertaining to welfare of their colonies. Function boycottedEven as the Chief Minister heard the grievances of the people, a section of residents from Sector 1, 4 Blocks at Albert Square Gole Market, boycotted the function protesting against poor maintenance of their residential quarters. They people accused the Public Works Department of lack of response to their complaints against the poor condition of their premises. However, RWA president P.S. Mukherjee along with the office-bearers attended the function.
