LS Speaker’s office denies KCR’s remarks

HYDERABAD: The office of Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee has denied here that he had conceded an upswing in the separate Telangana movement when members of Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) submitted their resignations to him on Monday.

Reacting to TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao making such a claim at a news conference on Thursday, the office clarified in a statement that Mr. Chatterjee had at no time and to no person spoken in that manner.

It also denied Mr. Chatterjee commenting that the Congress was certain to face defeat in the next elections owing to resignation by TRS MPs.

The statement was signed by the Officer on Special Duty to the Speaker.
