Waiting period is only 10 days: US consulate

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The United States Consulate in Chennai has stated that the waiting period for grant of visas for Indian citizens wanting to travel to the US has been reduced from 187 days to only 10 days for all posts in India, except Mumbai where it is about 15 days.

Huge investment

In a statement issued on Saturday in response to the report in these columns on the press conference by the US Ambassador David Mulford, the consulate said this was in fulfilment of the commitment of the US mission in India to reduce the waiting period. “We have invested a lot to make this happen,” it said, adding that this was a big improvement and the consulate was proud of the accomplishment.
