Nomination for RS poll begins

CHENNAI: The process for electing six members to the Rajya Sabha by members of the Tamil Nadu Assembly began on Saturday. On the opening day of nominations one independent candidate filed his papers. The last date for filing of nominations is March 15, the scrutiny is on March 17 and the last date for withdrawal is March 19. In the event of election being contested, the polling will be on March 26.

Nominations will be accepted on any day other than public holiday. It will be received on March 15 also, though it is a government holiday, according to an official press release issued by the Returning Officer. — Special Correspondent
