Tension in A.P. town over MP’s speech

Staff Reporter

RAJAHMUNDRY: Amidst tense situation, Rajahmundry MP Vundavelli Arun Kumar tendered apology to Dalits publicly and even touched the feet of Ambedkar’s statue. It may be recalled that Mr. Arun Kumar made some remarks against Dr. Ambedkar in a meeting on February 23 and apologised later in Delhi. However, Dalit associations continued their protests for the last 15 days demanding a public apology in Rajahmundry and started a hunger strike.

He tendered an apology to the Dalits assembled there and said he would not have been here but for the Fundamental Right of Speech guaranteed by the Constitution drafted by Dr. Ambedkar.
