KHAMMAM: District Collector Shashi Bhusan Kumar on Saturday asked the medical officer and the hospital development committees to make use of the funds given to them for the upkeep of the public hospitals and the PHCs in the district. Addressing the district planning committee meeting, he said hospitals and PHCs were expected to be well-maintained places in the villages. The hospital development committees should help the institutions live up to the expectation by utilising the funds given for the purpose. New lookA sum of Rs 1.15 crores was released to the primary health centres and hospitals under the Reproductive and Child Health Project II of the National Rural Health Mission this year. But only 50 p.c. of the funds could be utilised by them so far. He wanted the medical officers to pay attention to the utilization of the funds. Out of 66 primary health centres in the district, the primary health centres at Janampet, Aswaraopet, Sublaid, Garla. Chintoor, Kothagudem, Sathupally and Bhadrachalam are yet to get funds sanctioned this year. Rest of them were given funds quite some time ago. Even the district headquarters hospital was sanctioned Rs 5 lakhs under the project. The planning committee meeting had thin attendance. Some of the MLAs, despite being special invitees for the meet did not attended.
