All-party meet on Punjab issues sought
Special Correspondent
CHANDIGARH: The Punjab unit of the Communist Party of India has demanded an all-party meeting to discuss viable solutions to various problems, including the fiscal crisis, a stagnating farm economy and increase in crime across the State.
According to CPI national executive member Joginder Dayal and State Council secretary Bhupinder Sambhar, a resolution to this effect was passed at the party meeting in Tarn Taran this past week. The party had chalked out a prolonged programme of struggle to oppose “anti-people policies of the present ruling dispensation which was acting against the interests of the State”.
Expressing concern over the financial crisis before the State, the CPI leaders said that while the ruling Akali-BJP alliance was busy appeasing the vote banks, the Congress too had joined the game.
