Haryana allocation for SCs hailed
Special Correspondent
CHANDIGARH: National Commission for Scheduled Castes Chairman Buta Singh on Saturday described the Haryana Government’s decision to allocate 21 per cent of the State’s Plan Budget for 2008-09 for the Scheduled Castes Sub Plan (SCSP) as exemplary for other States.
Addressing a press conference here after a meeting with Chief Secretary Dharamvir and other senior civil and police officers, he said it was heartening that as against 19.35 per cent population of Scheduled Castes, the State Government had earmarked 21 per cent of the total Plan budget for their welfare.
Mr. Buta Singh informed that the Chief Secretary had assured the Commission that these funds would be neither diverted nor allowed to be lapsed and a system to monitor the use of these funds would be evolved.
