Reliance Power gets new Chief Executive

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Anil Dhirubhai Ambani owned Reliance Power on Saturday named J. P. Chalasani as its new Chief Executive.

Mr. Chalasani has tendered his resignation from the board of Reliance Energy with effect from March 7, according to an official company release here.

Mr. Chalasani, a former whole-time Director (Business Development) of Reliance Energy, has worked with National Thermal Power Corporation before joining the Reliance Industries group in 1995.

Interestingly, he oversaw the commissioning of the 2,100 MW Ramagundam thermal power station, the largest-sized thermal power project at the time during his stint of over 15-years with NTPC. He was involved closely with the successful bidding of the Sasan and Krishnapatnam ultra mega power projects. Reliance Power of the Anil Ambani group formed to develop, construct and operate power generation projects. It is now developing 13 power projects with a combined installed capacity of 28,000 MW.
