LIC Thanjavur Division’s distinction
Staff Reporter
PUDUKOTTAI: The Thanjavur Division of Life Insurance Corporation stands second among all 105 divisions in the country in non-single premium business. Against the target of 5.13 lakh policies with premium for Rs.722 crore during 2007-08, it has achieved 4.36 lakh policies for Rs.576 crore so far, B. Manivannan, Zonal Manager, Southern Zone, has said.
At the inauguration of the modernised building of the Pudukottai branch of LIC here on Friday, he said work on scanning all 27 lakh polices in Thanjavur division, as part of Enterprise Document Management System (EDMS), would start by April. The EDMS, which ensured paperless operation of administration, had already been taken up in four divisions — two in Chennai, Madurai and Kottaiyam.
The Pudukottai branch excelled in its performance during the current fiscal. Against the target of 19,700 policies with a first premium of Rs.16.30 crore, the achievement was 22,400 policies with Rs.21.14 crore. Senior Divisional Manager K. Rajivan Nair said three more branches, Tiruvaur, Pattukotai and Ariyalur, where the LIC was housed in its own buildings, would be modernised in course of time.
