ANANTAPUR: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a village-level Congress leader in Palabayi village of Rapthadu mandal in the district on Saturday. According to the police, one Laxminarayana (48) allegedly stuffed clothes in the mouth of the girl when she was alone at home on Friday and took her away to a secluded place outside the village and committed the crime. He left the girl on Saturday morning. The girl’s parents lodged a complaint with the police. —Staff Reporter
