“Veeramani has no right to interfere”

He has no locus standi: Ramadoss

S. Ramadoss

CHENNAI: Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S. Ramadoss has criticised Dravida Kazhagam (DK) president K. Veeramani for interfering in the political issue between the PMK and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) saying he has no ‘locus standi.’

In a statement issued here on Saturday, “we have sought a Rajya Sabha seat in the coming biennial polls on the basis of our strength and the DMK has reacted to it. After proclaiming the DK as a social movement, Mr. Veeramani has no right to interfere in this political issue. It is tantamount to betraying the ideology of Periyar.”

The DK was a social movement started by Periyar to promote the ideals of self respect, rationalism, humanity and equality. By launching a scathing attack on the PMK, Mr. Veeramani had betrayed the principles of Periyar. Mr. Veeramani had a history of supporting those in power irrespective of who they were, he said.

The party will decide its stand on the Rajya Sabha seat issue on Sunday, he said.
