CITU’s appeal to government

CHENNAI: The CITU has urged the State Government to withdraw its order on transferring the control of welfare boards of unorganised workers from the Labour to the Revenue Department. In a statement here on Friday, CITU general secretary A. Soundara Rajan said transferring the control would make the boards non-functional as the Revenue Department would be pre-occupied with other revenue works. To protest the government’s decision, volunteers of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions would organise State-wide demonstrations in front of government offices on March 13, according to a CITU press release.— Special Correspondent
