KANNUR (kerala): Tension engulfed Thalassery and nearby areas as political violence continued for the fourth day on Saturday. Two persons were seriously injured in an attack by Sangh Parivar activists at Thalassery town. Thalassery town and nearby areas, according to reports, wore a deserted look with shops remaining closed and vehicles, including local buses, keeping off the road after the attack on Communist Party of India (Marxist) sympathiser Riyaz (29) and his associate N.P. Sameer (30). Reports said that the latter was not a CPI(M) worker. The duo hailed from nearby Dharmadam and were headload workers at the vegetable market near the town municipal bus stand. The police said both were attacked by assailants. Both sustained serious stab injuries and were rushed to a hospital in Kozhikode, the police said.
