KOCHI: Chemical industries are facing a strong challenge posed by the liberalisation policy, Minister for Industries Elamaram Karim has said. Inaugurating a national seminar organised by the Travancore Cochin Chemicals (TCC) here on Saturday, Mr. Karim said that technologies in this sector were constantly changing. The challenge could be overcome only through augmentation of resources and ensuring high quality of products through environment friendly measures, he said. He said that owing to the industrial policy of the State government, the number of profit-making public sector units increased from 10 to 20. M.P. Sukumaran Nair, managing director of the TCC, presided over the function. K.A. Mohammed, general manager, welcomed the gathering and K.V. Balan, deputy general manager, proposed a vote of thanks.
