Van gutted; two escape unhurt

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A utility van was gutted on the National Highway 47 near Karamana bridge on Saturday evening.

Fire and Rescue Services Control said two persons who were in the van escaped without any injuries.

The Fire and Rescue Services doused the flames.

The reason behind the fire was yet to be ascertained, they said.

The Cantonment police have arrested a 26-year-old youth in connection with an attack on a juice shop near the Bakery Junction on February 24.

The police said Pradeep of Chengalchoola was the second accused in the case.

A team led by Sub-Inspector S.S. Suresh Babu arrested the accused on Friday. He was produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate III and remanded.

The two other accused are absconding.
