Memorial for poet to come up

KASARAGOD: The foundation stone laying ceremony for the proposed Rashtrakavi Govinda Pai memorial in the district will be held at Manjeswaram on March 23, C.H. Kunhambu, MLA, has said.

The memorial would be built with assistance from the governments of Kerala and Karnataka, said Mr. Kunhambu. There will be Central assistance as well, he said. Union Minister for Tourism Ambika Soni, State Minister for Culture M.A. Baby and the former Karnataka Chief Minister Veerappa Moily would participate in the ceremony and the public meeting, Mr. Kunhambu informed. A cultural meeting would be held in the afternoon. Kannada development authority chairman Siddhalingappa, noted poet Sivarudrappa and writer Sara Abubacker would participate. The evening session would feature a performance of art forms including Yakshagana and Kathakali.
