Student ends life

DAVANGERE: Ashwini (18), a student of Bapuji Polytechnic College here, committed suicide by dousing herself with kerosene and setting herself ablaze on Saturday.

The police said she went to a remote place, parked her two-wheeler there, kept her cellphone and purse on it and ended her life. She sent a text message to her friend minutes before that, they said.

Ashwini was the daughter of an Assistant Executive Engineer of Bangalore Electricity Supply Company, Harihar. The exact reason for the suicide is, however, not known. A case has been registered.
