BELLARY: After a gap of 15 years, a two-day “Gadinadu Utsav,” a blend of cultural events and literature, will be held at Chellagurki, the well-known pilgrim centre, from Monday, Chornur Kottrappa, Assistant Director of Kannada and Culture has said. Speaking to presspersons here on Sunday, he said the main idea behind organising the festival was to instil confidence among Kannada-speaking people in border areas and to protect Kannada. The fest would be organised by the Department of Kannada and Culture and the Kannada Development Authority. A procession with a portrait of Goddess Bhuvaneshwari would be taken out. A. Murigeppa, Vice-Chancellor of Kannada University, Hampi, would inaugurate the programme. President of the Chellagurki Gram Panchayat Lokeshwari Yellappa would preside over the function. MP G. Karunakar Reddy and MLCs K.C. Kondaiah, N. Thippanna, K.S.L. Swamy, G. Janardhan Reddy, Shashil Namoshi and Mahohar Maski, and president of ZP Pushparekha and vice-president Savitabai would be present.
