Stress on progress: Anand V. Patil, Assistant Station Director of All India Radio, inaugurating a book release function in Hassan on Sunday. HASSAN: Assistant Station Director of All India Radio Anand V. Patil has advised parents to identify the hidden potential in their children and encourage them. He was addressing a gathering at the Kannada Sahitya Parishat Bhavan here on Sunday, after inaugurating a book release function. He released a poetry collection titled “Kalarava” written by Sanketh P. Bharateesh. He also inaugurated a painting exhibition and Kavya-Kuncha programme. Progressive growthMr. Patil said it was the responsibility of parents and teachers to ensure that a child’s growth was progressive. He asked parents allow their children to do what they were interested in. Writer Shankar Halagatti said the present-day children were under pressure right from a young age. They were not given the freedom required for positive growth. He told teachers and parents to offer them a tension-free atmosphere if they were to develop well. PressureWriter Roopa Hassan wanted parents not to pressure children into performing well, but relate to them emotionally. Secretary of Arvinda School B.K. Rangaswamy and the former MLA H.S. Prakash spoke.
