Battling the blaze: Fire Force personnel extinguishing the fire at the Anand Ginning Factory in Hubli on Sunday. HUBLI: Three incidents of fire were reported in Hubli-Dharwad on Sunday. No casualty was reported. Around 500 bales of cotton were destroyed in fire at the Anand Ginning Mill near Bankapur Chowk in Hubli. Chief Fire Officer I.F. Badabade said that the fire was reported around 2.30 p.m. Five fire tenders, two from Hubli Fire Station and three from Amaragol Fire Station, were immediately pressed into service. It took about two hours to bring the fire under control, he added. Mr. Badabade said there were around 3,000 cotton bales on the mill premises. According to sources, the cotton bales that were destroyed belonged to two merchants from Ranebennur and Kusugal. Although the fire was brought under control by 5 p.m., efforts to put it off were on till late evening. The cause of fire and the extent of loss are yet to be ascertained. Scrap material worth lakhs of rupees were destroyed in a fire that broke out in a scrap yard at Karki Basaveshwar Nagar in Hubli. It took over an hour for the Fire and Emergency Services personnel to douse the fire. The third fire incident was reported from the house of Aminabe Nannesab Hanchinmani at Haveripet in Dharwad.
